Mandation. To ensure critical patient care needs are met, an employee may be required to remain past their normal shift as a last resort. Each Department’s Staffing Guidelines will outline a process for timely coverage of shifts vacated due to call-ins in addition to a fair and equitable process for imposing a mandated extension of an employee’s shift. All mandated hours shall be paid at a rate of time and one-half the base rate of pay, and maintain eligibility for applicable differentials and bonuses. Mandated extension of a shift shall not be used by the employer in lieu of implementing adequate staffing models for overall patient care.
Mandation. In the event that staffing needs arise for unforeseen reasons, such as sick calls or sudden census increases, Registered Nurses shall upon request of the Manager or Supervisor continue working beyond his/her regular shift until adequate coverage is obtained. Registered Nurses will be mandated to work on a rotating basis in ascending order of seniority. In such circumstances nurses will be eligible for 1.5x their base wages for time worked after the scheduled shift through the first anniversary date of the contract; after the first anniversary date, in such circumstances, nurses will be eligible for a $10.00 add-on for time worked after the scheduled shift. Nurses floated to the department will be the last to be mandated if a need arises in that department.
Mandation. If an employee is involuntarily required to perform overtime work of forty-five minutes or more, that shall constitute a Mandation. Involuntary overtime work of less than forty-five minutes will not be considered a Mandation.
