Military Leave and Service Credit. Military Leave of Absence and Service Credit is provided to the extent required by and consistent with law. Employees called to active duty will be provided all rights in accordance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act. Leave for military training duty of up to fifteen (15) calendar days leave per year, or the amount required by law, will be granted with pay for reservists ordered to active training duty, provided, that any reservist shall present evidence to the SPS that he/she made all reasonable efforts to arrange for the active training duty during the summer months or other school vacation period. The request for training must be submitted to Human Resources for processing.

Such reservist shall sign over the military reserve check to the District and the employee shall be paid his/her normal pay check. The employee shall provide appropriate advance notice to the employer of his/her release for active duty for training. This benefit shall apply only to FTE employees.
