The New Hire Rate clause defines the specific wage or salary that will be paid to employees when they are first hired. Typically, this clause outlines the initial compensation level, which may differ from rates paid to more experienced or long-term employees, and can include details such as hourly rates, starting salaries, or probationary pay scales. Its core practical function is to establish clear expectations for both employer and employee regarding starting pay, thereby preventing misunderstandings and ensuring transparency in the hiring process.
New Hire Rate. New hires shall be paid no more than 85% of the maximum rate of their respective payband for the first 120 days of employment. Increases thereafter shall be performance based. BUSINESS BASED ACTIONS
New Hire Rate. No applicant shall be hired at a higher rate than a current employee with comparable experience in the same job. Thus, an applicant may be hired at a rate higher than the starting rate if they have closely related job experience. For the purpose of this section, experience is defined as paid or unpaid work experience and includes internships. For each year of closely related experience an applicant may be paid up to four percent (4%) above the starting wage to a maximum of twenty percent (20%) for five or more years of closely related experience, as exemplified below.
New Hire Rate. Notwithstanding the foregoing, newly hired employees may be paid a “new hire” rate of 90% (ninety percent) of the minimum hourly rate during their first four

New Hire Rate. A newly hired regular full-time employee shall be paid during the fist year of employment at the rate of 80% of the prevailing hourly rate for regular full-time employees. After completing the first full year of employment, such new regular employee shall be paid at the rate of 90% of the prevailing hourly rate for regular full-time employees. After completing the first second year of employment, such new regular employee shall be paid the prevailing hourly rate for regular full-time employees.
New Hire Rate. All new employees hired by the District shall start at a rate of pay not to exceed the rate of pay current CSEA members in the same title are earning. The exception shall be new hires who possess superior credentials, greater experience and/or education, or demonstrate greater skill related to the position. The District agrees to supply notice to the union of any intention to hire at more than the starting rate and will supply the rate to be used and the reason for the new hire rate.
