Common use of Other Leaves of Absence Without Pay Clause in Contracts

Other Leaves of Absence Without Pay. An Education Assistant employed at least three (3) years with District 281 may request a leave of absence for personal reasons. When the requested leave of absence is to care for a seriously ill child, spouse, significant other, or parent, the District may waive the three-year requirement. A leave of absence without pay may be granted for a period of up to one year. By mutual consent, such a leave may be extended beyond one year. During this period of time seniority will not accumulate. The employee may continue health benefits at no cost to the District. Upon return the Education Assistant shall have a right to a vacancy based upon seniority. Requests for such leaves must be submitted to the Executive Director of Human Resources by August 1.
