Paid Educational Leave a. An employee may request special paid leave at straight-time hourly rate which may be granted employees for educational purposes which will benefit the State by adding to or strengthening employee skills or knowledge and to allow employees to attend approved conferences, professional meetings and workshops.
Unpaid Educational Leave After one (1) year of continuous employment, permission shall be granted for leave of absence for a maximum of one (1) year without pay for study, without loss of accrued benefits.
Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.
Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.
Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund, one (1¢) cent per hour per employee for all compensated hours for the purpose of providing paid education leave. Such leave will be for upgrading the employee skills in all aspects of trade union functions. CULTURAL LEAVE FOR ABORIGINAL EMPLOYEES The Superintendent of Schools or their designate, may grant five (5) paid days per year leave with seven (7) days written notice from the employee to participate in Aboriginal Cultural event(s). Such leave shall not be unreasonably denied.

Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.
