Paid Leave for Employees. Permanent employees shall be entitled to a day’s paid leave for the designated statutory holidays provided: they are paid for the scheduled shift before and the scheduled shift after the holiday, and their employment did not commence on the day after the holiday, and their employment did not terminate on the day before the holiday, and the employee was not absent without approved leave on either the scheduled shift immediately prior to or following the holiday or on the holiday, and
Paid Leave for Employees. (a) For the purposes of this Article, a “day’s paid leave” shall be equivalent to the number of hours in a shift that the employee is regularly scheduled to work (i.e. 6- hour shifts = 6 hours paid leave; 7.5-hour shifts = 7.5 hours paid leave; 8-hour shifts = 8 hours paid leave).

Time paid for while on bereavement leave will count as time worked for the purpose of computing overtime. A full-time nurse who works a seven and one-half (7.5) hour day shall be granted three (3) consecutive working days off without loss of regular pay for scheduled hours, in conjunction with the day of the funeral for other members of her or his immediate family, namely, parents, brother, sister, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandparent of spouse or grandchild.
