Payment for Accumulated Sick Leave at Retirement. At retirement, a Command Officer who has accumulated 50 or more days sick leave may convert one-third of all accumulated sick leave days in excess of 50 days and up through 260 days for a lump sum payment. This provision does not apply to service separations other than retirement.

At retirement, a firefighter’s sick leave balance shall be computed on a forty (40) hour workweek basis and he shall receive a lump sum payment for one-third (1/3) of all accumulated sick leave in excess of four-hundred (400) hours to the maximum of 2,080 hours. Full time employees shall be entitled to sick pay retirement benefits of 50 percent of accumulated sick time based on the following schedule: Maximum Benefit When employee’s age and years of service to the Township added together total 70 years 70 days not to exceed $10,000 When employee’s age and years of service to the Township added together total 75 years 75 days not to exceed $12,500 When employee’s age and years of service to the Township added together total 80 years 80 days not to exceed $15,000
