PERSONAL & ACADEMIC FREEDOM. A. The personal life of a unit member shall be the concern of, and warrant the attention of, the Board only as it may directly prevent the unit member from properly performing his/her assigned functions during duty hours or violate local, state, national, or common law, or be prejudicial to his/her effectiveness in his/her teaching position.
PERSONAL & ACADEMIC FREEDOM. 15 Section A - Personal 16 The personal life of a teacher is not an appropriate concern of the Board except 17 as it impacts upon the teacher’s employment or as otherwise provided by law.

The Board and the Association agree that they will not take any action against any unit member because of his/her participation in religious, political, or teacher organization activities conducted outside duty hours and off school property . C Each unit member recognizes and accepts his/her obligation to support the goals of education and to xxxxxx respect for the heritage of democratic values . D The Board and the Association, believing that academic freedomisbasictotheattainmentoftheeducationalgoals of the Xxxxxxxxxx County Public Schools, agree that:
PERSONAL & ACADEMIC FREEDOM. 3.11.1 A bargaining unit member shall have reasonable freedom in classroom presentations and discussions and may introduce political, religious, or otherwise controversial material, provided that such presentations, discussions, and/or materials are relevant to the course content, aligned with the teaching standards, within the scope of the law, and consistent with approved Board policies and administrative regulations.

PERSONAL & ACADEMIC FREEDOM. 2. A unit member does not have privileged status by virtue of his/her position to make statements that are libelous, slanderous, or that violate the civil rights of others.
PERSONAL & ACADEMIC FREEDOM. 22.1 It is the position of the District that all instruction shall be fair, accurate, objective, and appropriate to the age and maturity of the student(s), and sensitive to the community needs and the needs and values of our diverse cultures and heritages. Academic freedom is essential to the fulfillment of this position and the District acknowledges the fundamental need to protect unit members from unreasonable censorship or restraint which might interfere with the unit members’ obligation to pursue truth in performance of their teaching functions.
PERSONAL & ACADEMIC FREEDOM. The personal life of a teacher is not an appropriate concern of the District, except where it affects the teacher’s fitness for or performance of his/her contractual duties.
PERSONAL & ACADEMIC FREEDOM. A. Members shall be entitled to full rights of citizenship; and no religious or political activities of any member or the lack thereof shall be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the professional employment of such member, providing said activities do not violate any local, state or federal law.
PERSONAL & ACADEMIC FREEDOM. 34 Section A - Personal 35 The personal life of a teacher is not an appropriate concern of the Board except 36 as it impacts upon the teacher’s employment or as otherwise provided by law. 37 Section B - Academic 38 It is the intent of the parties that teachers shall enjoy academic freedom in the 39 district. Academic freedom shall mean that teachers are free to present 40 instructional materials which are pertinent to the subject and level taught, within 41 the outlines of appropriate course content and within the planned instructional 42 program as determined by normal instructional and/or administrative procedures 43 and as previously approved by the Board. Academic freedom shall also mean 44 that teachers shall be entitled to freedom of discussion in the classroom on 45 matters which are relevant to the subject matter under study and within their 1 area of professional competence, assuming that all facts concerning controversial 2 issues shall be presented in a scholarly and objective manner and assuming that 3 all discussion shall be maintained within the outlines of appropriate course 4 content, be educationally justifiable, and be subject to standards of good taste.
