Common use of Preferred Shifts Clause in Contracts

Preferred Shifts. (a) The Employer may wherever possible, and subject to operational requirements consider an employee's request to work preferred shifts, provided they are available. If the request is denied, the Employer will provide the employee with the reasons for the denial. (b) The word "shift" for the purpose of this Agreement means the period when the majority of the hours scheduled falls within the day period (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.) evening period (between 4:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight) or night (between 12:00 midnight) or night period (between 12:00 midnight and 8:00 a.m.).
