PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE a. Managers and Office Chiefs will promote employee participation in internal professional development offerings and external professional development, training, and education programs. b. Administrative leave, funding and/or reimbursement (if funds are available) will be provided for employees attending approved professional meetings, seminars, conferences and similar work-related activities in accordance with this directive. c. In order to effectively monitor and evaluate the use of training funds and the results produced by these programs, any person coordinating training programs conducted with DOC funds will be responsible for coordinating those efforts through the Special Assistant to the Deputy Director of College and Career Readiness and Professional Development. d. Employees will request advance authorization from their immediate supervisor prior to attending all professional development, training, conferences, meetings, workshops, and travel related to training to include in- house, inter-agency or non-District Government training. 1) The employee will submit the District of Columbia Government Employee Training Authorization Form (Attachment A) to their supervisor. This form will be completed whether expenses are to be paid by the employee, grant, or appropriation, etc. 2) Upon receipt, the manager or supervisor will forward the form to the CPDL for approval. 3) Training Form 1, travel authorization, and budget documents will be prepared on all external training involving expenditures. Copies of travel authorization and budget approval documents will be forwarded to the Special Assistant to the Deputy Director of College and Career Readiness and Professional Development within two (2) working days of approval.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE. In pursuing professional development consistent his contractual obligations and professional performance expectations, Milleman may participate in professional development opportunities that he deems are in his and LCSC’s best interests. Subject to Board approval and so long as they do not interfere with the fulfillment of his responsibilities as Superintendent, Milleman may participate or undertake governance positions in state, regional, or national professional organizations. Reimbursements for expenses and fees will be in accordance with LCSC guidelines.

  • Professional Development Days Upon request, each Employee shall be granted at least three (3) professional development days annually for professional development, at the Basic Rate of Pay. An Employee shall be advised, prior to taking any professional development days of any transportation, registration fees, subsistence and other expenses that will be paid by the Employer. Such hours not used in each fiscal year shall not be carried forward into subsequent years. Applications for such paid professional development opportunities shall be made in writing, to the Employer as early as possible.

  • Professional Development 9.01 Continuous professional development is a hallmark of professional nursing practice. As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation. The parties recognize their joint responsibility in and commitment to active participation in the area of professional development.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT Section 1 Expenses The COMMITTEE will pay the reasonable expenses (including fees, meals, lodging and/or transportation) incurred by teachers who attend workshops, seminars, conferences, or other professional improvement sessions at the request and/or with advance approval in writing of the Superintendent. Section 2 Credit for Projects The ASSOCIATION Professional Development Committee will meet with the superintendent to formulate professional development opportunities for teachers that benefit the educational goals of the Xxxxxxx Public Schools. Section 3 Credit for Courses Employees shall receive credit for a maximum of two (2) post-graduate courses per semester earned at an accredited degree granting college or university during the school year. An employee taking undergraduate courses during a school year may be granted credit at the discretion of the Superintendent or designee which discretion shall not be subject to the Grievance and Arbitration Procedures of this Agreement. Any post-graduate credits earned by an employee during the summer under this Agreement at an accredited degree granting college or university shall be recognized. Credits earned by an employee under this Agreement during the summer for undergraduate courses shall be recognized for movement on the salary schedule only to the extent that such courses had been approved in advance by the Superintendent or designee. Graduate credits earned after the Bachelor’s degree (provided they are not required or prerequisite courses in the Master’s Program) will be compensated at the Master’s level upon the successful completion of the Master’s Program. For salary purposes, educators who earned their Master’s Degree before the 1996-1997 school year will not qualify. This agreement is effective August 25, 1996. Movement on the salary schedule will only occur twice per school year: in September and in January. All documentation for movement on the salary schedule must be submitted to the payroll office no later than September 30 or January 31. There is a one-year limit for submission of courses in order to receive credit for movement on the salary schedule (one year from the time the course was completed).

  • Professional Development Committee There shall be a Professional Development Committee composed of three (3) members of the Association one of whom shall be the Bargaining Unit President or designate and three (3) representatives of the Hospital one of whom shall be the Chief Nursing Officer or designate and one human resources representative.

  • Professional Development and Training The Company shall pay for or reimburse the Executive for any reasonable professional development or training.
