Professional Growth, Graduate Courses. ‌ The Board and Union consider professional growth to be a desirable activity. As an additional incentive to encourage professional growth, the District shall allocate up to $100,000 with a cap of $20,000 each year, for the purpose of reimbursing teachers for tuition paid for attending classes. Tuition reimbursement will be issued based on the guidelines below: • Tuition reimbursement will only be granted to teachers who have earned tenure at Leyden. The summer prior to their fifth year at Leyden will count toward reimbursement. • Tuition reimbursement will be granted only for those courses preapproved for professional growth pursuant to Article X, Section 1. • Reimbursement shall not impact movement under the existing salary system. • If a teacher leaves the District within one year, 75% of the reimbursement will be refunded to the District. If the teacher leaves the District within two years, 50% of the reimbursement will be refunded to the District. • The Board shall have final approval on all requests for reimbursement. • Tuition reimbursement shall not exceed 90% of the cost of tuition. • A lifetime cap of $5,000, starting with this contract. • Teacher must receive and A or B in order to receive tuition reimbursement.

  • Professional Growth Professional growth is the continuous purposeful engagement in study and related activities designed to retain and extend the high standards of classified unit members.

  • Professional Growth Plan A written plan, self-directed or jointly developed between the teacher and evaluator, designed for the sole purpose of continuing teacher growth focused on areas identified in the teacher’s observations and/or evaluation.   • Professional Growth Program There shall be a Professional Growth Program in place for all classified employees. Professional Growth is an organized activity designed to improve performance of employees in the classified service and to provide training for employees to gain new skills and abilities, to broaden their opportunity for promotion, to engage in study and related activities designed to retain and extend the high standards of the classified employee.

  • Professional Activities The Superintendent/Principal shall be encouraged to attend appropriate professional meetings at the local, state, and national levels. Within budget constraints, such costs of attendance shall be paid by the Board. The Superintendent/Principal’s attendance at professional meetings at the national level must have prior approval of the Board.

  • Outside Professional Activities The President/Superintendent may undertake outside professional activities, including consulting, speaking, and writing provided these activities do not interfere with the President/Superintendent’s duties.

  • PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR A. Teachers are expected to comply with reasonable rules, regulations, and directions adopted by the Board, or its representatives, which are not inconsistent with the provisions of this Agreement, provided that a teacher may reasonably refuse to carry out an order which threatens physical safety or well being or is professionally demeaning.

  • Professional Development and Training 4.1 The purpose of professional development and training requirements for interpreters is to maintain the skill levels interpreters possess at the time they pass their interpreter certification examination, and to further enhance their skills and knowledge. Both the State and the Union encourage interpreters to complete training and continuing education activities.

  • Professional Dress In as much as teachers are role models for students, each teacher shall maintain a neat, professional appearance appropriate for his/her specific teaching assignment.
