Recognition of Social Illness. The Employer and the Union are committed to ensuring that mental health is given the priority it deserves. For this reason mental health conditions, stress related illness and addictions will be treated as any other health problem. Sick leave benefits will be granted. Employees whose immediate family member is undertaking a treatment or rehabilitative program for any health concern may apply for vacation time or leave of absence without pay to participate with the family member in said treatment or rehabilitative program. It is recognized by both the Employer and the Union that it is the personal responsibility of the individual to accept treatment.
