Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. An employee who is selected for a full-time position with the Union shall be granted leave of absence without pay or welfare benefits but without loss of seniority for a period of up to one (1) year.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. It is agreed that any employee who is elected or selected for a full- time position with the Union or any body with which the Union is affiliated, shall be granted leave of absence, without pay and without loss of seniority by the City for a period up to one year, and such leave may be extended each year on request during the employee's term of office. For the purpose of this section it is agreed that if any employee is granted leave of absence, there shall be no cost to the City.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. An employee elected or appointed to a full-time position with the Union or UNIFOR, its affiliated or chartered bodies, shall be granted leave of absence without compensation for a period of up to one (1) year. The District may, if requested by the Union in writing, extend the leave of absence on an annual basis. Maintenance of pay and benefits and associated reimbursement shall be arranged between the District and Union on a case by case basis.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. The Corporation agrees that an employee who is elected as a full-time officer of the Union will be granted leave of absence without pay for a period of up to one
(1) year. Such leave may be renewed upon request of the employee during their term of office. Employees on leave of absence will continue to accrue seniority for the time spent on leave. Upon leaving such duties as an officer of the Union, the employee shall be entitled to return to their previous position or a comparable position for which the employee is qualified if any such position is held by an employee with less seniority. If all such positions are held by employees with more seniority or have been abolished, the employee shall be entitled to return to any other vacant position for which that employee is qualified.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. The Employer shall grant, on written request, leave of absence without pay for periods of three (3) months up to one (1) year, for an employee selected for a full-time position with the Union, without loss of accrued benefits. The period of leave of absence may be renewed upon request. Employees may not accrue any benefits other than seniority during such period of absence.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. Leave of absence without pay for full-time Union employment or to attend Union conventions, seminars or training session shall be granted under the following conditions:
a) If an Employee becomes a full-time Executive of CUPE Local 1505, the Employee shall be granted leave of absence for the purpose of carrying out the duties of the Employee’s office. Such leave shall be deemed not to interrupt the Employee's continuity of service. Upon notification of not less than one (1) month to the Employer, the Employee will be reinstated in the position vacated, if available, or in another position mutually acceptable.
b) An Employee chosen as a delegate to Union conventions, seminars, or training sessions shall be granted leave of absence. Leave of absence for these events shall be requested at least ten (10) working days in advance to the Employer. If more than one (1) Employee from the same classification or area, is elected to attend a Union convention, seminar, or training session, where their absence may result in an area being unable to provide service, the Union will obtain approval for the leave from the Employer. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. Any Employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, the Canadian Labour Congress, the Ontario Federation of Labour, the Ontario Division or the National Body of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, shall be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of existing seniority by the Employer for a period of up to two (2) years. If the Employee returns to the Bargaining Unit within two (2) years, the Employee shall be reinstated to the same position, if it still exists or to a comparable position if it does not, in accordance with her ability and seniority.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. (a) The Employer will grant an employee leave of absence without pay for at the most one (1) calendar year in order to work as a full-time official of the Union or for any organization to which the Union is affiliated. The leave must be requested by the Union and extension requests to such leaves of absence shall not be unreasonably refused by the Employer. The employee shall retain any seniority accrued as of the absence, and shall continue to accumulate seniority during the absence.
(b) When an employee is granted a leave of absence as per article 17.03
(a) the Employer agrees that the employee may elect to retain benefit coverage with the Employer as long as premiums for such coverage are reimbursed on a monthly basis to the Employer by the Union.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. At the request of the Union, the Employer may grant either one (1) of the Union president or unit vice-president a leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority to deal solely with union matters for the duration of her/his term in office. Such leave shall be renewed each year upon request, for a period not exceeding her/his term of office.
Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union Duties. An employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, or any Union body with which the Union is affiliated may be granted leave of absence and will continue to accrue seniority Such leave may be renewed each year, on request during their term of office for up to a maximum of two (2) years. Union leave will also include any bargaining unit member elected or selected to a position within CUPE’s Provincial and or National structure The employee's wages and benefits will be continued by the Employer and the Union will reimburse the Employer for all such wages and benefits paid on behalf of the Employee who is granted the leave. The granting of such leave shall not be unreasonably denied.
