Caregiving Leave a. An employee who provides the Employer with proof that he or she is in receipt of or awaiting Employment Insurance (EI) benefits for Compassionate Care Benefits, Family Caregiver Benefits for Children and/or Family Caregiver Benefits for Adults may be granted leave without pay while in receipt of or awaiting these benefits.

Caregiving Leave. An employee shall be granted an unpaid general leave of absence up to twenty-eight (28) weeks in a period of fifty-two (52) weeks as per the Saskatchewan Employment Act to care for their child, children, spouse, parents or sibling. During the leave, the employee will continue to accumulate all benefits and seniority under this collective agreement. Seniority Accumulation on Leave of Absence Effective the date of certification, seniority shall accumulate on any leave of absence for the first month unless otherwise stated in this Agreement.
Caregiving Leave. An employee who is entitled to caregiving benefits under the Employment Insurance Act is entitled to a leave of absence without pay for up to 35 weeks to provide care for a critically ill or injured child and up to 15 weeks to provide care for a critically ill or injured adult. An employee who is entitled to compassionate care benefits under the Employment Insurance Act is entitled to a leave of absence without pay for up to 27 weeks to provide care or support to a family member who is gravely ill and who has a significant risk of death within 26 weeks. There will be no interruption in the accrual of seniority or eligibility for benefits provided for under Article 26.
Caregiving Leave a. A leave of absence without pay for care giving shall be granted for a period not to exceed twelve (12) months. One extension, not to exceed one year, may be approved by the Superintendent, provided the employee requests such extension and continues to reside in the area.
