Recognition of Social Illness. a) The Employer and the Union recognize that mental illness, alcoholism, and drug abuse are health problems. Where necessary, sick leave benefits will be granted for treatment on the same basis as now applied for other health problems. Employees whose spouse is undertaking a rehabilitative program for alcoholism or drug abuse may apply for vacation time or leave of absence without pay to participate with her spouse in such rehabilitative program.
