Common use of Retention of Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Retention of Sick Leave. An employee who transfers from another public agency to the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department, or who has prior service with a public agency in Ohio, shall retain credit for any sick leave earned so long as he is employed by the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department, except that deduction shall be made for any payment or credit given by the previous agency in lieu of taking sick leave. The previously- accumulated sick leave of an employee who has been separated from the public service shall be placed on his credit upon his re-employment with the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department, provided that such re-employment takes place within ten (10) years of the date on which the employee was last terminated from public service.
