Common use of Sick Leave Bank (SLB Clause in Contracts

Sick Leave Bank (SLB. The purpose of the sick leave bank program is to provide income protection for employees to the extent listed during periods of involuntary absence due to personal illness or disability prior to the time an individual may otherwise apply for long-term disability as referenced in Article 19. A. The Board in 1975-76 contributed 145 days after which the Association will furnish days assessed from the (10) days granted to each teacher. Personal business leave days are retained by teachers who are utilizing days awarded by the SLB or while on long-term disability. Also, teachers may elect to convert personal business leave days to accumulated sick days at the initiation of use of days awarded by the SLB. The bank shall be administered by the Association to determine those eligible for withdrawal and shall function according to the provisions as outlined by the LEA in their bylaws, website and any other document deemed necessary by the union. The LEA has the sole responsibility and right to administer the sick bank. Additional information regarding the SLB can be found on the Association website.
