Sixth Year. The sixth year shall constitute a planned and approved (by the Superintendent) program at an accredited college or university resulting in the award of a Sixth Year Certificate or a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS), or a second master's degree.
Sixth Year. A sixth-year, for reasons of advancement in salary, shall be defined as follows:
1. A second master's degree in a discipline other than one in which the initial master's degree was attained.
2. Completion of thirty (30) credits beyond the master's degree in a degree program leading to a Ph.D., Ed.D., or their equivalent approved by a regionally-accredited college or university.
3. A sixth-year certificate earned at colleges or universities regionally accredited (e.g., NEASC).
Sixth Year. The City will pay for coverage on behalf of the retired employee (up to age 65) at the rate of 50% of the cost of the premium in the year following the designated 5- year period described above. Premiums will be paid at 50% of what is being paid for family coverage at the time of the 6th year. Retirees may add dependents as a result of a qualifying event or during open enrollment periods if the dependents are considered qualified beneficiaries under COBRA rules.
Sixth Year. A certificate of advanced graduate study or a sixth year professional diploma earned at an accredited college or university. Alternatively, teachers shall be placed on the sixth year salary schedule if they have completed thirty (30) hours of coursework beyond the master's degree in a planned program approved by the Superintendent of Schools.
Sixth Year a second master's degree in a discipline other than the discipline in which the initial master's degree was attained, or, the completion of thirty (30) credits prior to the master's or subsequent to the master's in a planned program of study. (The master's degree plus thirty (30) credits in total are required.) Effective with courses started after August 31, 2006, any course(s) credited toward the attainment of the sixth year salary level must be taken at the graduate school level. Subject to the prior approval of the courses by the Superintendent, any teacher who has received his/her master's degree may then be eligible for sixth-year status if he/she completes thirty (30) additional credit hours in his/her area of teaching assignment. These courses do not have to be part of a planned program but must be taken at an accredited college or university, unless a specific alternative is approved by the Superintendent. Doctorate -- a doctor's degree earned at an accredited college or university.
Sixth Year a. A sixth year certificate earned in an accredited college or university or the completion of thirty (30) credits beyond the master’s degree (as defined in paragraph 3 above) in a program approved by an accredited college or university, or a second master’s degree earned in an accredited college or university as approved by the Superintendent in advance. b. Credits other than those in a planned program must be approved by the Superintendent to qualify for a sixth year increment. Teachers hired after July 1, 1998 must complete the sixth year planned program within five (5) years of receipt of the thirty (30) credits in order to maintain step placement at this level. c. A sixty (60) credit master’s degree (e.g. social work) shall be defined as a sixth year.
Sixth Year. Evaluation Procedure Each faculty member will next be evaluated after completing five (5) years of service at the Laboratory Schools (that is, in the sixth year). Both the academic administrator and the peer evaluators will complete formal observations during the Fall Quarter, according to the procedure specified above in Article VII N.
Sixth Year. The Base Rent for the Premises during the sixth (6th) year of the Original Term shall be $104,607 per month. EXHIBIT 10.8.1
Sixth Year. Alternative 1.
a. Matriculation for a Sixth Year Certificate or a Doctoral Degree or a program approved in writing by the Superintendent and
b. A minimum of thirty (30) graduate credits beyond the Master’s Degree, or
c. In the absence of a Master’s Degree in the subject area, the graduate work must consist of at least one-third (1/3) of the credits in subject area to be taught, or in a related subject area. Alternative 2. Thirty credits beyond the Master’s Degree in a formal program with the written approval of the Superintendent.
Sixth Year. (1) A possessor of a Sixth Year Certificate of advanced graduate specialty or a second Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university. The approval of the program by the Superintendent of Schools must be obtained in writing prior to matriculation into a second Master's Degree program. This decision shall be rendered within thirty (30) days of the written request. To qualify for advancement to the Sixth Year level of the salary schedule, the second Master’s Degree or Sixth Year Certificate must be earned in an educationally related field. A teacher who earns a Sixth Year Certificate which does not qualify for advancement to the Sixth Year level of the salary schedule shall receive an annual stipend of three hundred dollars ($300).
(2) Any speech and language pathologist who earns a Master’s Degree requiring the completion of at least fifty-two (52) credits shall be placed on the Sixth Year degree track of the salary schedule. This provision shall apply to any speech and language pathologist employed by the Board during the 2007-08 school year and/or any subsequent year, regardless of the date that the Master’s Degree was earned. However, this provision shall be applied prospectively only, beginning with the 2007-08 school year.
