Smart City Scenario Sample Clauses

Smart City Scenario. UC ID Scenario Name GAME_SUPERMARKET_MARKETING Game and Supermarket Marketing Description This scenario proposes the use of the IoT Lab application in the form of a game playable on mobile phones. The game is envisaged to be something that can attract the “crowd” and through additional functionality facilitate their involvement in the IoT Lab experiments. These experiments can require both crowdsensing data (GPS, temperature, etc.) measured by the mobile phone’s sensors and crowdsourcing data (action to be taken by the user like recording noise at a given location, answer a questionnaire, etc.). The first time the IoT Lab application starts device and user registration (minimal information is required by the participant) take place. This information is stored in the IoT Lab platform and used by the platform in order to identify the crowd resources that best fit the requirements of an experiment. As an investigator the user has also to register on the platform(via IoT Lab web portal) to receive credentials for accessing the platform. The investigator can manage and define experiments by specifying the data needed, periodicity, algorithms to be used, crowd resources needed, etc. The platform validates the experiment and matches the required resources. In order to collect participants for the experiment the platform sends the experiment description information to the mobile phones, where the users can visualize the detailed description of the experiment, including the data needed for the experiment, as well as the privacy details. As a part of this, participants may be asked for more specific information (personal or device related). In case of participants’ acceptance the experiment will be executed and the results/data sent to the IoT Lab platform. After the experiment’s execution the investigator may retrieve the results and even export them to an external tool. As a specific investigator role in this scenario we will try to involve a local business (supermarket). Their goal is to perform marketing of their services and products, receive feedback from their clients on the services delivered, as well as increase sales. This supermarket is deploying a mobile game as a promotional tool (driving a trolley through the shop aisles, everything branded according to the supermarkets’ corporate identity). We plan to expand this game and integrate IoT Lab tools into it to enable the supermarket to run the investigations they would like to perform. This investigation w...
