Temporary Upgrade - Employees temporarily assigned to a job in a higher wage classification will be provided wage treatment as in subsection (a) above except for those employees who have held the classification permanently within the past twelve (12) months. Such employees will be granted the necessary wage treatment returning them to the appropriate step on the schedule to which they are being assigned. It is understood that employees are expected to complete work assignments they are capable of performing which would normally be assigned to a different job classification. When these assignments, excluding travel time, require the employee to work over one (1) hour in a day and are approved by supervision, the employee will be paid the applicable "temporary upgrade rate." The twelve (12) month restriction will not apply in cases where an employee is continually upgraded.
