Common use of Temporary Upgrades Clause in Contracts

Temporary Upgrades. In the event that an employee is temporarily assigned to perform work for a period of more than one (1) hour, and not for purposes of training, in a higher classification than that to which he/she is permanently assigned, in or outside the bargaining unit, the employee shall be paid one dollar ($1.00) per hour for each wage group above the group to which the employee is assigned to a maximum rate of four dollars ($4.00) per hour for all hours worked with a minimum credit of two (2) hours. This clause shall not be used for the purpose of reducing the number of employees in the job classifications to which such employee is being upgraded. At the time of assignment to a higher classification, an employee shall be verbally advised of his/her temporary upgrading.
