Types of Sabbaticals. (1). The University will make available to each employee whose application has been reviewed by the University, a sabbatical for two (2) semesters (i.e., one (1) academic year) at half-pay, subject to the conditions set forth below. The University may, with the approval of the local UFF Chapter, provide sabbaticals that are equivalent to the two (2) semester half-pay sabbaticals.
(2). Each year, the University will make available at least one (1) sabbatical at full-pay for one (1) semester for each twenty-five (25) eligible employees, subject to the conditions set forth below. The University may, with the approval of the local UFF Chapter, provide sabbaticals that are equivalent to the one (1) semester, full-pay sabbaticals.

(2) Each year, the University will make available at least one (1) sabbatical at full-pay for one (1) semester for each twenty-six (26) eligible employees, subject to the conditions set forth below.

Types of Sabbaticals. 15 1. To pursue an advanced degree or appropriate post-graduate study within one's 16 teaching discipline at an accredited university or college.
18 2. To conduct documented study and/or research that is conducive to improving 19 learning and teaching effectiveness and program design related to the 20 bargaining unit member's assignment.
22 3. To work in one's field of expertise to acquire new techniques, knowledge, and/or 23 materials consistent with current industrial, business, and/or professional 24 practices.
Types of Sabbaticals. Competitive Sabbaticals Each year, the University shall make available at least one (1) sabbatical, at full pay for one (1) semester and one (1) sabbatical at two-thirds pay for two semesters for each forty (40) tenured employees.

The University Administration may, with the approval of the local UFF Chapter, provide sabbaticals that are equivalent to the two (2) semester half-pay sabbaticals.
(2) Each year, the University Administration will make available at least one
(1) sabbatical at full-pay for one (1) semester for each forty (40) eligible faculty members, subject to the conditions set forth below. The University Administration may, with the approval of the local UFF Chapter, provide sabbaticals that are equivalent to the one (1) semester, full- pay, sabbaticals provided to the University.
Types of Sabbaticals. (1) Each year, the University will make available at least one (1) sabbatical at full pay for one semester for each forty (40) eligible faculty members, subject to the conditions set forth below. The University may provide a sabbatical that is equivalent to the one
(1) semester, full pay sabbatical at the request of the faculty member.
(2) The University will make available to each eligible faculty member whose application has been reviewed by the University a sabbatical for two (2) semesters (i.e., one (1) academic year) at half pay, subject to the conditions set forth below.
(3) Each year, the University will make available at least one (1) sabbatical at two-thirds (2/3) pay for two (2) semesters (i.e., one (1) academic year) for each forty (40) eligible faculty members, subject to the conditions set forth below.
Types of Sabbaticals. (1) Type I Sabbaticals: Each year, each college shall make available at least one [Type IA] sabbatical, either at full pay for one semester or one [Type IB] at three-fourths pay for one academic year, for each twenty tenured and tenure-earning employees, subject to the conditions of this Article. Standard rounding techniques shall be used to determine the total number of Type I sabbaticals to be made available in each college. (e.g., a college with 29 tenured or tenure-earning employees shall make one Type I sabbatical available. A college with 30 tenured or tenure-earning employees shall make two Type I sabbaticals available.) Colleges with fewer than twenty tenured and tenure-earning employees shall make available at least one such sabbatical every other year.
Types of Sabbaticals. 4 All sabbaticals should be designed to benefit student learning and success. The 5 following are recognized sabbatical types at Shasta College:
7 1. To pursue a course of study within one's discipline. Such study may enhance 8 currency in one’s field and/or allow one to teach new or enhanced courses in one’s 9 discipline.
11 2. To pursue a course of study in another faculty service area. Such study may allow 12 one to teach in a different discipline.
14 3. To conduct travel or research that is conducive to improving work effectiveness or 15 program design related to one’s primary assignment.
17 4. To conduct travel or research that is conducive to improving District processes or 18 practices.
20 5. To work in one's field of expertise to acquire new techniques, knowledge, and/or 21 materials consistent with current industrial, business, and/or professional practices. 23 Other types of sabbaticals may be proposed and are subject to the same criteria used to 24 consider all sabbaticals.
