Union Business: Xxxxxxx. The Bargaining Unit shall have four (4) stewards and four (4) alternate stewards, each of whom must be an employee. There will be one (1) xxxxxxx and one (1) alternate xxxxxxx assigned to each pIa toon. Said xxxxxxx or alternate xxxxxxx shall represen t the employees assigned to this platoon with respect to this agreement. The fourth xxxxxxx and alternate xxxxxxx shall be assigned to represent the sergeants and may be assigned to any of the three pIa toons. The names of the employees selected as stewards or al terna te stewards shall be certified to the employer in writing by the Union. The alternate stewards shall have au thori ty to represen t employees under the term of this agreement only when the stewards is not on duty.

Union Business: Xxxxxxx. The Employer recognizes the right of the Union to designate one (1) xxxxxxx and one (1) alternate xxxxxxx, each of whom must be an employee. The Union will notify the Employer of each such xxxxxxx'x or alternate xxxxxxx'x appointment or election and the xxxxxxx or alternate xxxxxxx will represent the Union and the individual employees pursuant to the terms of this Agreement. The alternate xxxxxxx may exercise rights as a xxxxxxx only in the event the xxxxxxx is absent from work. The xxxxxxx, or in the proper case, the alternate xxxxxxx, shall be permitted reasonable time off during his regular working hours to process and present contract grievances pursuant to the provisions of Article IX. No time shall be taken for such acti vi ties unless prior permission shall have been received from the employee's supervisor. It is understood that such time shall be devoted to the proper presen ta tion of grievances and the privileges of this Section shall not be abused, nor shall the Employer unreasonably withhold permission for the participation in the grievance process.

  • Union Business Leave 1. The five members of the Union Negotiating Committee shall be granted leave from duty with full pay for all meetings between the Board, or its representatives, and the Union for the purpose of negotiating the terms of a contract, when such meetings take place at a time when such members are scheduled to be at work.

  • Union Business (a) The Hospital shall grant leave of absence without pay to employees to attend Union conventions, seminars, education classes and other Union business in connection with the administration of the collective agreement provided that such leave will not interfere with the efficient operation of the Hospital. Such leave will not be unreasonably denied. In requesting such leave of absence for an employee or employees, the Union must give at least fourteen (14) days clear notice in writing to the Hospital, unless not reasonably possible to give such notice. The cumulative total leave of absence, the number of employees that may be absent at any one time from any one area, and the number of days of absence shall be negotiated locally and are set out in the Local Provisions Appendix. During such leave of absence, the employee's salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital on the basis of what his normal regular hours of work would have been, provided that the Union reimburses the Hospital in the amount of such salary and applicable benefits within thirty (30) days of billing. Notwithstanding the above, time spent by the eight (8) Executive Board members and seven (7) Alternate Executive Board members of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions to fulfill the duties of the position shall be in addition to leave for Union Business under this clause. Part-time and casual employees will be given full credit for seniority purposes for regularly scheduled hours missed in accordance with this provision.

  • Local Union Business Leave The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence without pay to local bargaining unit members for the purpose of attending Union seminars and/or attending to Union business. The cumulative total leave of absence will be determined locally, but shall not exceed forty (40) days per year per hospital. The amount of notice required and the number of employees who may be absent at any one time and from any one area shall be determined locally and will be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.

  • For Union Business Representatives of the Union shall not suffer any loss of pay when required to leave their employment temporarily in order to carry on negotiations with the Employer, or with respect to a grievance.

  • UNION XXXXXXX 9:01 The Union may appoint and the Employer shall recognize a Xxxxxxx for each shop, job or area. The Employer's General Manager shall be notified in writing of the name of the Xxxxxxx when the appointment becomes effective. The Xxxxxxx shall be recognized as the representative of the Union for the shop, job or area in which he/she is working and no discrimination shall be shown against the Xxxxxxx for carrying out his/her Union duties.   • Federation Business Duly authorized representatives of the Federation shall be permitted to transact official Federation business on institutional property at all reasonable times provided there is no disruption to the normal operations of the College.

  • Unpaid Leave - Union Business (a) Short-term leave of absence without pay to a maximum of fourteen (14) days at one time shall be granted to employees designated by the Union to transact Union business including conventions and conferences unless this would unduly interrupt the operation of the department provided, however, that these designated employees shall be paid by the Employer for time lost in attending meetings during working hours whenever their attendance is requested by the Employer.
