Union Business Leave.
1. The officers and representatives of the Union are as follows: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Stewards. The President of the Union shall provide the City with a roster of officers and representatives and keep the City informed of any changes in that roster.
2. Up to three (3) representatives of the Union shall be allowed time off for negotiations or conferences with City Officials, without loss of pay or benefits, provided that the City’s operations shall always take priority over other business. Off-duty personnel will not be compensated for such negotiations, conferences or hearings.
3. Officers of the Union shall be granted time off, without loss of pay, to conduct union business that cannot be conducted during off-duty time.
4. Officers and/or representatives of the Union shall be granted time off, without loss of pay, to attend training classes without loss of pay or benefits to further management-employee relations.
5. The number of days off with pay and benefits under paragraphs 3 and 4 shall not exceed an aggregate of four (4) days for the entire bargaining unit per calendar year. All requests for leave pursuant to paragraphs 3 and 4 shall be submitted in writing to the City Manager no less than ten (10) working days prior to the date of the requested leave.
6. Any Officer or Xxxxxxx of the Union shall be allowed to investigate any situation/issue brought to his/her attention by either union members or management. If the nature of the issue is such that expedited handling will result in prompt disposition thereof without interference to department operations then management shall allow the Officer/Xxxxxxx to investigate the matter while on duty, provided that City operations will always take priority over other business. It is further understood that time spent by Officers/Stewards on Union related matters while off duty is non-compensable. Time spent by Officers/Stewards processing matters through the grievance procedure, attending disciplinary sessions with supervisors, and attending disciplinary and/or administrative hearings before appropriate authorities shall only be paid during their regularly scheduled workweek.
7. Staff representatives of the Union shall be allowed to meet with employees during unpaid lunch and/or coffee breaks to the degree the meetings do not disrupt the workplace.
Union Business Leave. The Gallery may grant Leave of Absence without pay to not-more-than three (3) employees, for a total period not exceeding thirty (30) working days in one (1) calendar year, to attend Union conferences or conventions, provided reasonable notice is given by the Union to the Gallery and such absence will not unduly interfere with the operation of the Gallery.
Union Business Leave. (A) Members who have provided written consent through an authorization form per rule 5.02 shall have six (6) hours of “A” Days contributed to the Union Business Leave Bank on an annual basis. Assessments shall take place upon written request from the Regional Director on or before August 1st of each year. Such “A” Day assessments will be converted to its dollar value at the rate of pay of the bargaining unit member from whom the leave was received. Those dollars (with benefit costs) shall be placed in the Union Business Leave Bank. When business leave is used in accordance with Rule 23.08 of the master agreement, dollars will be withdrawn from the Union Business Leave Bank equal to the hourly rate (with benefit costs) of the bargaining unit member utilizing the leave times the hours of leave taken. All “A” Day hours transferred to the Bank is final and not recoverable for re-credit to an individual’s “A” Day account.
(B) Employees shall be allowed to voluntarily donate “A” Days to the Union Business Leave Bank, subject to the following procedures and conditions:
(1) Each employee wishing to donate “A” Days will fill out, date and sign a request showing the amount of accumulated time off they wish to donate.
(2) Each such request will have written or typed along the bottom, “A” Day donation to Inlandboatmen's Union of the Pacific, Alaska Region, Union Business Leave Bank."
(3) Inlandboatmen's Union of the Pacific, Alaska Region, will deliver all such “A” Day requests to the Alaska Marine Highway System. The vacation hours shall then be converted to dollars at the hourly rate of the donor and be transferred to the Union Business Leave Bank.
(4) The Employer will not be responsible for the collection, or any statements made in relation to the collection, of said donations.
(5) All donations are final and not recoverable for recredit to the donor's account.
(6) It is understood that such voluntary “A” Day donations are in addition to the mandatory “A” Day donation of one (1) day required under Rule 23.08(A).
(C) The release of members from duty for Union Business Leave shall be handled on the same basis as release for vacation. Approval for such release shall not be unreasonably withheld by the Employer.
Union Business Leave. Where applicable, employees may be granted a leave of absence for purposes of Union business in accordance with M.S. 179.66, Subd.
Union Business Leave. The parties agree to the primary principle that Union business will be carried out during off-duty hours.
A. At the Union's request and subject to the operating requirements of the OSP, Union Stewards for the Union shall be granted personal leave, accrued vacation leave, accrued compensatory time, or leave of absence without pay to attend the Union's Xxxxxxx training session. However, recall from such leave may occur due to emergencies or to meet the operating needs of the agency.
B. Employees elected to Union office or otherwise selected by the Union to conduct Union business that takes them away from their employment may be granted personal leave, accrued vacation leave, accrued compensatory time, or leave of absence without pay for up to six (6) months, upon advance notice by the Union. Every good faith effort will be made to provide as much notice as possible. The determination of granting such leave shall be made by the Employer based on operational needs of the Agency. Leave will be requested through the normal Agency procedure. However, recall from such leave may occur due to emergencies or to meet the operating needs of the agency.
Union Business Leave. A. Local 336 shall have up to twenty (20) working tours or a total of 480 hours of Union business leave per agreement year, with full pay for Union officers and/or designees to participate in conventions, pension business, educational conferences, and to attend to the normal operating functions of the Union. Such leave will not accumulate for a Union officer or designee performing Union business outside scheduled working hours. This leave is available only to relieve such individual from work for an activity approved by this Article. Said tours may be apportioned throughout the life of this agreement by the Union. There shall be a maximum of two (2) employees on any such leave on any one tour with the exception of time allocated under Section B.
B. Sufficient time off with pay to be deducted on an hour for hour basis from the hours in Section A, above, shall be granted any two (2) elected or designated officers of the Union who are covered under this agreement for the purpose of attending and conducting regular or special meetings of the Union. A twenty-four (24) hour notice shall be given the Chief or Acting Chief of the Division. Where there are two meetings to cover different platoons, a total of no more than two (2) elected or designated employees shall be excused over the two (2) days involved. A maximum of three (3) Union members may be off during any one shift for the purpose of attending conventions, seminars, or special conferences, at the sole discretion of the Chief.
C. There shall be neither a carryover nor an accumulation of unused leave to the next calendar year except that there shall be a carryover of any unused Union time, from odd years to even years, not to exceed one-hundred twenty (120) hours.
D. Employees of the bargaining unit who are elected or appointed to positions or committees with the IAFF, OAPFF, or AFL-CIO, and who are not local 336 eboard members, shall be granted forty-eight (48) hours of union leave per year to participate in the functions of those positions.
Union Business Leave. A leave of absence for a reasonable period of time for Union activity shall be granted to an employee upon the request of the Union, provided that no more than one (1) person at a time in each work site covered by this Agreement shall be granted such leave.
Union Business Leave. Each bargaining unit shall be granted two (2) days per year of Union Business Leave for use by Officers and stewards for Union conferences and conventions.
6.5.1 The Union may ask and the County may grant Union leave for up to one (1) year. This leave shall apply to one (1) person at any one time and shall only be granted to allow the individual to perform duties for the Union.
6.5.2 Leaves for Union business shall be governed by the provisions Article 16.6 - Other Leaves and Article 17 - Insurance in this Agreement.
Union Business Leave. An annual allotment of one hundred (100) person days shall be established for the exclusive allocation of the Union. Members of MFT Local 59, including teachers in the Adult Education programs, certified by the Union to use this time off shall be released without loss of pay. The cost of reserve teacher service for these individuals shall be borne by the Union and shall be paid as used and billed by the Finance Department. An additional allotment of fifty (50) days will be established for the exclusive allocation of the union for the specific purpose of mediation if the (100) days have been depleted.
Union Business Leave. Employees nominated by the Union to attend Union business not connected with this Agreement as provided for in Article 11.02 shall be granted time off without pay provided that:
i) No more than Ten (10) employees at any one time;
ii) The total days in any one (1) calendar year does not exceed one hundred and fifty (150); and
iii) The number nominated does not exceed two (2) from any one (1) Area/Xxxx. All such time off shall be requested in writing to the Manager, or designate, four (4) weeks in advance, of the request and granted in writing within five (5) calendar days, except in cases of emergency.
