Unpaid Leave Affecting Benefits. Any employee granted unpaid leave(s) of absence totaling up to twenty (20) work days in any year shall continue to accumulate seniority and all benefits and shall return to her/his former job. Unless otherwise mutually agreed, if unpaid leave(s) of absence exceed twenty (20) working days in any year, the employee shall not accumulate benefits from the twenty- first (21st) day of the unpaid leave to the last day of the unpaid leave, but shall accumulate benefits and receive credit for previously earned benefits upon expiration of the unpaid leave.

Unpaid Leave Affecting Benefits. Any employee of Absence totaling up to one hundred forty (140) working hours in any year shall continue to accumulate seniority and all benefits and shall return to former job and increment step. Unless otherwise mutually agreed, if Unpaid of Absence exceed one hundred forty (140) working hours in any year, the employee shall not accumulate benefits for any additional hours of unpaid leave but shall accumulate benefits and receive credit for previously earned benefits upon expiration of the unpaid leave. Compassionate Leave of Absence of twenty-one (21) working hours with pay shall be granted to employees in the event of death of a member of the employee's immediate family. This will include parent (or alternatively step- parent or xxxxxx-parent), spouse or common-law spouse, child, stepchild, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, legal guardian, xxxx and relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.

  • Special Leave Without Pay Section 1. Employees may participate in a Special Leave Without Pay Program as established by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners. The Special Leave Without Pay Program period is from date of County Board Approval through December 31, 2021. Section 2. Upon the request of either party, the EMPLOYER and the UNION shall meet and confer on the extension of this Special Leave Without Pay Program each year through 2021. Section 3. The EMPLOYER's policy on use of Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP) provides that employees may use SLWOP in cases where they would otherwise not take the leave. The EMPLOYER will therefore interpret its policy on SLWOP to allow SLWOP for Union Leave and Parenting Leave in cases where the employee would not otherwise take the leave.
