Vacation Selection. (a) The number of personnel permitted to be off duty for approved Departmental Leave is subject to 15.06. Vacation Selection. (When the City schedules vacations, employees shall be given preference as to vacation selection on the basis of seniority, to the extent that such scheduling will not interfere with City operations. No employee will be mandated to choose more than a single day during vacation scheduling, subject to the above provisions. Each department of the City will develop, distribute and maintain procedures regarding vacation selection for employees within the various divisions and departments; however, each such set of procedures will include at least the following:

Once an employee elects to take a week of his vacation in less than one (1) week increments, forty (40) or eighty (80) hours will be recorded as “vacation time coming" in the compensatory time record. The employee will then take this "vacation time coming” as off duty time in the same manner as currently used for taking off on compensatory time.
5. For such time selected as "vacation time coming" it is the employee's responsibility to use all of this time during the calendar year.
6. c) Selections will be frozen for a fifteen chosen within the respective station, in rotation by seniority;

12.10 Vacation weeks may be selected at the discretion of the employee provided: • multiple weeks taken as one selection shall be consecutive • following each selection, subsequent choices may only be exercised after all other members of the group have either had an opportunity to make a selection, or have exhausted their entitlements C. 12.11 Lieu day selection will be made within a crew or group and only after vacation requestsselections for all group members have been made and recorded in accordance with 12.08 above.
12.12 Lieu day selection is in the reverse order of vacation selection as referred to in 12.08 above. An employee selecting vacation first within a group will have last choice of lieu days.
12.13 Lieu day selections for the next entire calendar year for all members of the group must be made and submitted to the appropriate Platoon Chief by December 31.
12.14 A minimum of one lieu day may be selected as a choice. A maximum of five (5) consecutive 24 hour shifts one tour of duty may be booked selected as one (1) vacation selectionchoice. For the purpose of this clause only, the combined tours of duty Friday, Saturday and Sunday day shifts with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night shifts shall be considered one tour.
(c) Vacation for PC/APC working on 12.15 If lieu time entitlements of the same platoon and Divisional Chiefs and their assistants employees selecting exceed available time within the calendar year, shifts will be selected from open periods on other apparatus within the provisions of this Article save and except that not more than one person (PC or APC, DC or assistant) shall be granted time off on vacation at any one time.

Personnel undergoing a transfer to another shift shall have first (1st) choice for vacation on their new shift without competing in the lottery process.
(k) When transfers are required, affected personnel’s vacations will be frozen for a fifteen (15) day period. For employees transferred to another shift, their first annual vacation selection at the time of booking will be honoured by the Corporation. All subsequent picks will be for available time. Vacation selection will be completed within fifteen (15) days from the date consent of the published transfer notification. When, in the judgment of the Company, it appears advisable in order to meet the needs of the Company’s customers, the Company may require an employee entitled to a vacation under the terms of this Article to forego all or part of such vacation, but, in that case, the Company will pay vacation pay pursuant to this Article, in addition such employee shall receive time and one- half (1 1/2) for hours worked by the employee for such part of the vacation as is not actually taken. Time and one-half (1 1/2) will become the employees base rate of pay and shall be considered in calculation of any other additional overtime or premium pay.
