Years of Service Vacation. Zero (0) to five (5) years: One (l) day per month. Over five (5) and under twenty (20) years: One and one-quarter (l l/4) days per month. Every effort will be made in the Department of Correction to grant accrued leave time on weekends, upon request, if in the judgment of the appointing authority, staffing is available, and that security or necessary inmate programs are not jeopardized.

One week of furlough is defined as forty (40) hours. Furlough periods will be selected in each rank on a seniority basis, as determined by the Chief of Police in order to assure the proper functioning of the Division.

Section 37.4 Vacations are scheduled in accordance with the workload requirements of the Individual divisions. For this reason, the Employer may require vacation requests be made a reasonable time In advance of the dates requested. Adjustments to the vacation request will be made In accordance with the workload requirements as determined by the Employer. An employee wishing to change his/her scheduled vacation shall give the Employer forty-eight (48) hours advance notice. Employees may send vacation leave requests via email to the employee’s supervisor. Section 37.4.1 The Employer shall have the right to deny vacation requests if workload requirements so mandate.
