Authorization for Leave Without Pay. Upon the request of the employee, the Fire Chief may grant a leave of absence without pay for a period not to exceed fifteen (15) leave days (see Glossary). No leave without pay shall be granted for more than fifteen (15) leave days, except upon the written request of an em- ployee and approval of the City Manager. Failure on the part of an employee on leave to report promptly at its expiration shall be cause for discharge.
