Authorization for Personal Leave of Absence without Pay. An employee’s request for leave of absence without pay may be granted by the Chief of Police for a period of up to five (5) working days. Upon recommendation of the Chief of Police and the Human Resources Department, requests for leaves of absence without pay for periods greater than five (5) days, but for no more than one (1) year, may be granted by the City Manager. The denial by the City Manager of an unpaid leave of absence request may be appealed to the Personnel Board.
