Authorized Leaves and Oregon Paid Sick Leave. A nurse shall use accrued PTO 30 in accordance with the Hospital’s leave policy. If the nurse is on FMLA/OFLA leave, the 31 nurse shall use PTO for the first 24 hours and then EIH until such hours are exhausted, 32 at which time PTO shall be used. 1 Use of PTO for reasons which qualify under the Oregon Paid Sick Leave law shall be 2 counted against the nurse’s Oregon Paid Sick Leave entitlement and there shall be no 3 additional accrual of sick leave under the Oregon Paid Sick Leave law. The Hospital 4 shall not be required to provide additional sick leave to nurses who utilize all of their 5 yearly PTO accrual for reasons other than those that qualify under the Oregon Paid Sick 6 Leave law.

  • Extended Sick Leave When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:

  • Unused Sick Leave The accrual of unused sick leave hours is unlimited. The City and the Union commit to the evaluation and establishment of a mutually beneficial non-use of sick leave incentive and pay-out policy. Until such time that a policy is established, accumulated sick leave shall be compensated as follows: Upon retirement from the City service, an employee shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated sick leave, with the rate of payment based upon his regular pay at the time he retires. Upon the death of an employee, his beneficiary shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated unused sick leave, with the payment based upon his regular pay at the date of his death.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer. 15.2 If bereavement occurs while an employee is absent on annual leave, sick leave on pay, or other special leave on pay, such leave may be interrupted and bereavement leave granted in terms of 15.1 above. This provision will not apply if the employee is on leave without pay. 15.3 In granting time off therefore, and for how long, the employer must administer these provisions in a culturally sensitive manner.

  • Unpaid Parental Leave (a) An employee is entitled to a period of up to 52 weeks unpaid parental leave in respect of the: (i) birth of a child to the employee or employee’s partner; or (ii) adoption of a child who is not the natural child or step child of the employee or employee’s partner; is under the age of sixteen; and has not lived continuously with the employee for six months or longer.
