Common use of Benefit Premiums Clause in Contracts

Benefit Premiums. The School Association shall continue to pay for insured benefit premiums, provided employees continue to pay their portion (where applicable) under the following conditions: a. during the first four (4) consecutive weeks of a Board-authorized leave of absence without pay; b. while the employee is off due to illness or injury including the period when receiving sick leave benefits paid by the School Association; c. while on pregnancy, parental, personal emergency, family medical, or declared emergency leave, for the period it is required by legislation to pay benefit premiums. Employees on any approved leave of absence may continue benefit coverage, provided they make arrangements with the Director of Finance to pay both the School Associations and Employee’s portion of benefit premiums to the School Association by the 15th of the month in which the premium is due and provided they are eligible to participate in the benefit plan. If payment is not received by the Director of Finance by the 15th of any month, coverage will be discontinued. a. The School Association is responsible at all times for the enrolment and the proper remittance and payment of premiums to the insurance carrier(s). ACTSS shall be supplied with a copy of the insurance policy(s). b. All employees covered by the insurances shall be supplied with a copy of a booklet as provided by the insurance company, outlining the coverage to which they are entitled.
