The survey will include the following three (3) open-ended questions:
Climate Survey. A district climate survey will be distributed to all employees of USD 335 prior to November 1 of each school year. The draft plan will include an assessment timeline, the staff, student, and parent survey instrument, and a description of how the assessment will be conducted and data reviewed.
2. By April 18, 2018, and approval of the plan for school climate assessments, the District will provide OCR with documentation of the administration of the School climate assessment. The documentation will include, at a minimum, the date(s) the survey was administered, the survey results, the District’s analysis of the survey results, and the proposed responsive actions the District took or will take to remedy the school climate, if necessary, for OCR review and approval.
Climate Survey. The District will develop and conduct an age-appropriate climate survey to be distributed to its middle and high school students and staff as it relates to sexual harassment, including sexual assault. The information gathered in these surveys will be used to inform District actions with respect to its Title IX compliance, including whether any additional student or other training is needed to further improve the school climate. The survey will allow for respondents to answer the survey anonymously and include questions designed to gather information regarding:
1. level of perceived safety;
2. knowledge of the process by which students might make reports of sexual harassment;
3. the prevalence of sexual harassment in the School/District;
4. the willingness to report incidents of sexual harassment to District staff;
5. the perception of the District’s handling of reports and complaints of sexual harassment; and
6. suggestions for reducing incidents of sexual harassment in the School/District and improving the District’s response to reports and complaints of sexual harassment.
Climate Survey. A. Beginning in school year 2023-2024, the District will administer an annual school climate assessment to employees and students in grades 3-12 to evaluate the climate at each District school with respect to sex-based harassment and the extent to which the survey respondents are subjected to or witness sex-based harassment. Participation in the survey by students will be voluntary, and the survey will be conducted in a manner consistent with applicable law. The survey will inquire about the experience, knowledge, and perceptions of employees and students about the climate at each school with respect to sex-based harassment and will assess whether employees and students have sufficient information about the District’s anti-harassment policies and are able to find the appropriate resources when necessary. The District will analyze the results of the climate assessment and provide for OCR’s review and approval a proposed plan of action(s) to address all concerns identified.
