Consolidation of Schools. 13-19-1 In the event of a consolidation of two or more schools, non-centrally based educators from the consolidating schools will have first rights to interview for posted positions in the new consolidated school(s) resulting from their school’s consolidation for which they apply and are qualified.

Consolidation of Schools. In the event that one or more schools are closed or consolidated, there will be a special adjustment period held. The time line for this special adjustment period will be established by the Classified RIF/Consolidation Committee. The Human Resources Department will notify administration at the consolidated schools of their tentative staffing allocation for the upcoming year and provide them with a combined seniority list by category of all of the classified staff from those schools. The department supervisors will identify the number of needed positions in each category— maintenance, food service, clerical, etc. Assignments will be made with consideration of seniority. Each position will be offered to the most senior employee. For example, when selecting between two cafeteria managers, the most senior person will be offered the position and given the opportunity to accept or decline the position. The employees will have three working days to notify the District of their decision. Employees must be appropriately certified, trained and/or qualified for that position. Employees for whom there is not a position available will be placed on the District's Classified Consolidation List. If an employee is placed on the Consolidation List and is not placed in an equivalent position by June 1 of the staffing cycle, the employee will be placed in an open position for which they are qualified. The employee will be paid at his/her previous rate or the pay rate of the new position, whichever is greater. If the pay rate is less than that of the previous position, the previous rate of pay will remain in effect for six months. After that time, the pay rate will be adjusted to that of the new position. In the event that no position is available, the employee may be subject to an abolishment of his/her position and would be considered as priority for other District vacancies. If a vacancy occurs at a consolidated school after the initial placement, classified employees from the affected schools who were placed on the District Consolidation List will be allowed to return before any other candidates may be considered. The opportunity to return to an open position will be by category, in seniority order. Employees may be able to qualify for positions in multiple categories. For example, an administrative assistant may also be qualified as a paraprofessional. The employee must be appropriately certified, trained and/or qualified for that assignment.
