The maritime areas, at which the OWS investments will be developed, are also used by the other economic sectors, such as transport, fisheries, tourism and hydrocarbon extraction. They are also used by the armed forces to ensure security and include environmentally valuable and protected areas. To this date, there was no dialogue platform, on which development of the OWS investments could be discussed with all interested parties. – The key areas of OWS interactions with the other forms of use of maritime areas include: o impacts of OWFs on natural environment; o impacts of OWFs on the national security and defence systems; o mutual impacts between OWFs, fisheriesand shipping. For these areas, there is a need for establishing the dialogue platform for all entities involved in the OWS development.

Current Conditions. The LCT is a mosaic of coniferous forest stands with a few stands dominated by hardwood species. An estimated 55% of the covered lands are considered operable, i.e., available for forest management operations. This amount excludes non-forested areas, baseline habitat blocks, special set-aside areas, unstable land forms, along with enhanced riparian and wetland management zones. The property is well- stocked and is highly productive timberland with an acreage-weighted average site index of 130 (King 1966). The current composition of operable forest lands is estimated as 49% Xxxxxxx-fir, 41% western hemlock, 7% western red cedar, and approximately 3% as big leaf maple and other hardwoods. Nearly all of the forest stands have been harvested at least once; approximately 40% of operable forest lands have been harvested twice. The current age structure is diverse but approximately half of the forest stands are older than 80 years (Figures 3-1 and 3-2). This age class distribution is based on ongoing forest inventory data collection by Everett and projections made with the West Cascades Variant of the Forest Vegetation Simulator (U.S. Forest Service 2008).

Current Conditions. The Polish society supports the energy transition with the use of renewable energy sources, in particular OWFs. At the same time – as demonstrated by the public opinion polls – not many are aware of the competitive advantages for the national and regional economy (including economy at the areas covered with just transition plans) and for the society as a whole from development of OWFs at the Polish maritime areas. – OWS belongs to the most acceptable energy technologies by the society. More than ¾ of Poles believe that offshore wind energy is a good or the best way to produce energy. According to analyses, lack of trust of a part of the society to this energy source is associated primarily with poor knowledge on OWS. – The identified knowledge gaps in relation to OWS require taking and conducting the appropriate informational and educational actions. According to the respondents, these actions should be taken both in the form of a nation-wide social campaign, a campaign focused on the residents of coastal municipalities, as well as an educational campaign in all types of schools.
