DEFINITION AND NOTICE. A layoff is defined as the involuntary, non-disciplinary separation of an employee from State service because of lack of work or other economic or statutory necessity. The Board shall give notice of layoff for the coming school year to a tenured employee by June 1. The layoff and bumping procedures set forth in Sections Three, Four and Five of this Article shall be used for all layoffs, including but not limited to programmatic layoffs and layoffs due to a decline enrollment.

DEFINITION AND NOTICE. 12.1.1 For the purposes of this Agreement, technological change means changes introduced by the Employer in the manner, method, or procedure in which it carries out educational operations and services as a result of a change in equipment or material where such technological change significantly affects the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement or security of employment of employees in the bargaining unit. 12.1.2 When the Employer intends to introduce technological change it shall notify the Union in writing of its intention at least three (3) months in advance, and to update the information provided as new developments arise and modifications are made. 12.1.3 The notice given shall contain the following information:  the nature of the technological change,  the date on which the Employer proposes to effect the change, and  the approximate number and type of employees likely to be affected by the change. 12.1.4 Where the Employer has notified the Union of its intention to introduce technological change, the parties will meet within thirty (30) calendar days to commence discussions about impacts on employees.

DEFINITION AND NOTICE. The Village in its discretion shall determine whether layoffs are necessary and shall determine which classifications, as defined herein, will be subject to layoff. For purposes of layoff only, the classifications of Maintenance Worker I, Maintenance Worker II and Crew Leader shall be combined as one classification. The classification of Water Operator shall be its own distinct classification. Except as provided in Section 8.2, the Village shall give the Union as much notice as possible, but not less than thirty (30) days’ notice, of any layoffs.
