Education Improvement. A leave of absence without pay of up to one (1) year may be granted to an employee with five (5) years of experience in the District for the purpose of study at an accredited college or university and related to the employee's professional responsibilities. By March 1 of the leave year, the employee must notify the employer of his/her intention to return to work. The leave of absence shall be granted without loss of position or status or accrued employment benefits that have been earned prior to the leave of absence unless the position no longer exists, in which case the employee shall be placed in a similar or comparable position.

Education Improvement. The Employer will continue its past practices of reimbursement of tuition costs up to 100%, providing successful completion with a passing grade. To be eligible for reimbursement, all courses must be approved by the Employer prior to enrollment. Copies of the Educational Assistance Policy and Educational Reimbursement forms are available through the Human Resources Department. Where appropriate, the Employer will make a reasonable attempt to make training opportunities available to all employees who require the applicable skills to perform their regular job duties. Due consideration will be given to the employee’s seniority and to operational and production requirements. All Company required courses shall be posted and paid for at the employee’s applicable rate.
Education Improvement. Instructors may take any Adult Class for free while working in the district and after retirement from the district. 3.10.1 The cost for materials frees for any class shall be born by the instructor or retired instructor and not paid for by the district. 3.10.2 The instructor shall not be counted towards any student minimum requirement for the class. 3.10.3 The instructor shall be allowed in the class if the maximum has not been reached by the start date of the class.
