Educational School and Eligible Students. This alternative graduation program will target students in grades 9-12 who have dropped out and may include students who are at-risk of dropping out of school. Students entering the School without a high school diploma will immediately be tested to determine their capabilities in reading comprehension, English Language Arts (―ELA‖), math, and Science. The program will deliver a one-to-one needs based curriculum that allows for both credit recovery and credit acceleration. The program will focus on the learning process in learning centers, emphasize a personalized approach, and deliver individual students a prescribed course of study. Using both direct teach and computer-based instruction, students recover credits, accelerate credit accrual, and receive high dosage tutoring in math and other areas of need. Students will receive the necessary remediation through the ResponsiveEd personalized curriculum. Remediation will occur concurrently with the ResponsiveEd personalized program to assist students in the fulfillment of all requirements to gain their high school diploma, including the completion of all required courses for each student’s diploma plan, passing all required TAKS/STAAR/EOC assessments, and demonstrating the ability to work independently. Courses are offered in the core areas of ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Foreign Languages. PE and electives required for graduation for both the Recommended and Distinguished Plan are provided. The courses are TEKS-based and developed locally to accommodate individual needs with a strong emphasis on developing reading and literacy skills. The term ―Eligible Student‖ shall mean, in the following priority: First, students who have dropped out or who are at-risk of dropping out and who live in the Xxxxxx and Xxxxxx High School attendances zones; Secondly, students from AISD-at-large who are considered dropouts or at-risk of dropping out on a first come first serve basis. Further consideration may be given to a student’s age, grade level, or academic credentials in general or in a specific area as necessary for the type of program offered. The program may require an applicant to submit an application not later than a reasonable deadline the campus establishes. Meets Standard: The school implemented the material elements of its Educational Program in all material respects, and, in operation, the education program reflects the essential terms as defined in the charter contract, or the school has obtained approval for a modification to the essential terms. Measure 1b Is the school complying with applicable education requirements? Meets Standard: The school materially complies with applicable laws, rules, regulations and provisions of the charter contract relating to education requirements, including but not limited to: • Academic standards, including Common Core • Graduation requirements • State assessment and student testing • Implementation of mandated programming as a result of state or federal funding, including Title I and Title II funding Measure 1c Is the school protecting the rights of students with disabilities? Meets Standard: Consistent with the school’s status and responsibilities as a school within a single LEA under the State Department of Education, the school materially complies with applicable laws, rules, regulations and provisions of the charter contract (including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act) relating to the treatment of students with identified disabilities and those suspected of having a disability, including but not limited to: • Equitable access and opportunity to enroll • Identification and referral • Appropriate development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Section 504 plans • Operational compliance including the academic program, assessments and all other aspects of the school’s program and responsibilities • Discipline, including due process protections, manifestation determinations and behavioral intervention plans • Access to the school’s facility and program to students in a lawful manner and consistent with students’ IEPs or Section 504 plans • Appropriate use of all available, applicable funding Measure 1d Is the school protecting the rights of English Language Learner (ELL) students?
