Effect of Parental Leave on Employment. Absence on parental leave does not break the continuity of service of an employee but is not to be taken into account in calculating the period of service for any purpose.

Effect of Parental Leave on Employment. (a) Paid parental leave will count as service for all purposes of the Agreement.
(b) Unpaid parental leave will not break the continuity of service of an employee but will not be taken into account in calculating the period of service for accrual of annual or personal/carer’s leave.
(c) An employee on parental leave may terminate their employment at any time during the period of leave by notice given accordance with this Agreement.
(d) KWHB will not terminate the employment of an employee on the grounds of pregnancy or absence on parental leave.

(b) Absence on paid parental leave will count as service for all purposes.
(c) Absence on unpaid parental leave will not count as service for the purposes of long service leave unless the employee has completed 10 years service with the University and the period of unpaid parental leave taken is less than 6 months.
(d) Absence on unpaid parental leave will not count as service for annual leave.
(e) The University will continue to pay its contribution to the employee’s superannuation fund during periods of paid parental leave provided that the applicable superannuation scheme allows for such payments.

Absence on parental leave will not break the continuity of service of an employee but will not be taken into account in calculating the period of service for any other purpose.

An absence on Parental Leave will be taken into account in calculating an entitlement to annual leave to a maximum of three (3) months provided that where an employee does not return to the service of The Employer prior to or following completion of Parental Leave and thereafter remain in the service of The Employer for a continuous period of three (3) months, the employee will forfeit the right to have any part of the period of Parental Leave taken into account in calculating entitlements to or in lieu of annual leave. Absence on Parental Leave will not break the continuity of service of an employee but will not be taken into account in calculating the period of service for any other purpose.
