Annual Sick Leave Entitlement. When an employee separates from City service through resignation, retirement or layoff on or before December 31, the employee shall receive payment for his/her annual sick leave entitlement as defined in Section 13.1 as follows:
Annual Sick Leave Entitlement. 33.3 (a) Every Employee shall be entitled to twenty (20) days paid leave of absence in each academic year, when the Employee is unable to perform the Employee’s duties because of illness or non-work related injury.

An employee whose absence due to illness extends from the end of one calendar year into the subsequent year shall continue to be paid in accordance with her entitlement at the commencement of the absence. Upon the employee's return to work, the benefits of the new year shall be available.
