Employee and Department Head. If the matter is not resolved to the employee's satisfaction at Step 1, the employee or Union shall present the grievance to the Department Head (and/or designee) within fourteen (14) calendar days of the immediate supervisor's decision. If an employee does not report to both an immediate supervisor and a different Department Head, the employee may skip Step 2 and go directly to Step 3 below. A conference between the employee (and the Shop Xxxxxxx and/or Union Representative, if requested by the employee) and the Department Head (and/or designee) shall be held. The Department Head (or designee) shall issue a written reply within fourteen (14) calendar days following the grievance meeting.

Employee and Department Head. 11.3 If the matter cannot be resolved informally, and it is the employee's desire to proceed further, or if the Union has a grievance, the employee or the Union Representative or Union Xxxxxxx shall reduce the grievance to writing and submit it to the appropriate Department Head within thirty (30) working days of the decision in Step 1. The written grievance shall contain a description of the alleged problem, the date it occurred, the provision(s) in the Agreement allegedly violated, and the corrective action the grievant is requesting. A conference between the employee, a unit or union representative if requested by the employee, and the Department Head shall then be held at a mutually agreeable time. The Department Head will endeavor to resolve the grievance and shall respond in writing within ten (10) working days of the meeting with the grievant.
