Employees Seniority in a New Classification. Bargaining Unit Seniority is defined as the amount of time an Employee has been working for the City in the Teamster’s Bargaining Unit. Bargaining Unit seniority will be used for determining the amount of leave an Employee accrues. Job Classification seniority is defined as the amount of time an Employee has worked in a specific classification. Job Classification Seniority will be used to determine step increases with the exception of lateral transfers and demotions (see below). Seniority in classification will also be used to determine personnel reductions.
