Engineering Analyses. The County has asked that we provide a preliminary engineering evaluation of a slope failures at Slab Creek Road and at Cape Lookout Drive that has put the adjacent road at risk of losing a lane to continued movement due to erosion and/or undercutting of the slope. Specific services to be completed at each site include the following items. • Conduct a program of laboratory testing on select soil and/or rock samples collected under separate contract to evaluate engineering properties of the materials. For budgeting purposes, we have assumed our testing will include moisture content, grain size distribution, Atterberg limit tests, unconfined compression testing of rock cores, and laboratory testing for corrosion potential. However, actual tests will depend upon the materials encountered during our explorations. • Evaluate seismic hazards, including ground shaking, ground shaking amplification, and liquefaction. • Conduct preliminary engineering analysis including slope stability analysis to develop alternatives for the mitigation of the slope instability. • Prepare one report outlining our findings and preliminary recommendations at each site, including information related to the following: – subsurface soil and groundwater conditions; – seismic hazards; – alternatives analysis and preliminary recommendations for slope mitigation; and – provide a rough order of magnitude cost for stabilization to be used for planning/funding efforts. • Provide project management and support services for this portion of the work. Assumptions • A site-specific seismic response analysis is not required. Schedule and Fee Estimate We propose to complete our work on a time-and-materials basis per the attached Fee Schedule. We anticipate costs will be approximately $80,357. Our services will be performed in accordance with the standard of care of our profession. The attached Terms and Conditions and any exhibits or attachments referenced herein are incorporated into our agreement with you, and, by your authorization to proceed, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.
Engineering Analyses. Consultant will assist City and Contractor in confirming that cover manufacturer for Project will be same cover manufacturer that supplied the Digester 611 cover. Consultant will meet with Owner and digester cover manufacturer to understand design considerations specific to the manufacturer's scope of supply. Design for a mixing system for Digester 612 is not included in this scope but the possibility of a future mixer installation will be considered in the lid design.
Engineering Analyses. We will use data obtained from the subsurface exploration and laboratory tests to evaluate the subsurface profile and groundwater conditions, and to perform engineering analyses related to pavement design and performance. SEH, Inc. Proposal QTB168701 November 14, 2022 Report We will prepare a report including: ▪ A sketch showing the boring locations. ▪ Logs of the borings describing the materials encountered and presenting the results of our groundwater measurements and laboratory tests. ▪ A summary of the subsurface profile and groundwater conditions. ▪ Discussion identifying the pavement and subsurface conditions that will impact pavement design and construction. ▪ Discussion regarding the reuse of on-site materials during construction. ▪ Recommendations for preparing pavement subgrades, and the selection, placement and compaction of fill. ▪ Recommended CBR value to aid in pavement design. ▪ Recommended subgrade modulus (k). We will only submit an electronic copy of our report to you unless you request otherwise. At your request, we can also send the report to additional project team members. Schedule We anticipate performing our work according to the following schedule. ▪ Drill rig mobilization – within about 6 weeks following receipt of written authorization; we have assumed this work will take place in tandem with the Runway 8/26, Taxiway B, and QTA Facility project. ▪ Field exploration – 1 day on site to complete the work ▪ Classification and laboratory testing – within 2 weeks after completion of field exploration ▪ Preliminary results – within 2 weeks after completion of field exploration ▪ Final report submittal – within 4 weeks after completion of field exploration If we cannot complete our proposed scope of services according to this schedule due to circumstances beyond our control, we may need to revise this proposal prior to completing the remaining tasks.
