Extension of Full-Time Leaves. The teacher on a leave of absence for a full year or part of a school year may request an extension of the leave by the Director or designate. Such request shall be in writing and shall be received no later than four school months prior to the original end date of the leave. The teacher shall confirm the date of return or submit a request for an extension of the leave stating the reason(s) for the request four months prior to the date of return. An extension of a leave may be granted provided the teacher's request for such an extension complies with the appropriate deadlines. If a request for an extension of a leave is not received, the teacher shall be expected to return to active employment with the Board for the following school year. In either case, the deadline for application may be waived for an individual teacher at the discretion of the Director or designate
