Other Leaves definition

Other Leaves. For leaves under this article that do not qualify per the FMLA, the employee shall pay the full insurance premium (School District and employee contributions) for any month in which the employee does not work at least one (1) day.

Other Leaves shall include, but not be limited to, care for a member of the immediate family who is ill, long-term illness of the unit member, service in an elected public office, professional study or research, government-sponsored foreign service, health, temporary relocation of family, seeking alternative career, and family hardship.

Examples of Other Leaves in a sentence

• Appointees in this series are not eligible for sabbatical leave, but are eligible for leave with pay in accordance with PPM 230-10, Section II L, Other Leaves with Pay.

• The provisions of this Section do not apply to those employees on annual, sick, disability leave, or any leave identified in Article 14 (Other Leaves of Absence) of this Agreement.

• In particular, reasonable extensions shall be granted when the basis for the request for extension is the result of a legitimate absence from duty as specified in Articles 5 (Union Business), 23 (Professional Development), 27 (Study, Professional Development, and Research Leave), 28 (Extended Study Leave), and 45 (Sick Leave), 46 (Maternity and Parental Leave), and 47 (Other Leaves) inclusive of any person involved in the grievance procedure.

• The unit member may request the option to purchase all fringe benefits while on Other Leaves.

Other Leaves. Employees in locations where the Program is not available may apply for an Unpaid Leave of Absence.

Other Leaves. For jury duty and bereavement, a substitute will be employed. All other leaves will follow the normal contract. Absences due to bereavement must be consecutive. The employee will be given first consideration for the employee’s former position when a vacancy occurs. The parties agree that if the employee’s position has been eliminated for reasons unrelated to family medical leave, the foregoing shall not apply and the employee may be laid off in accordance with Article 19 of this Agreement, unless otherwise required by law. Insurance: An employee placed on an authorized leave must pay the required premium necessary to continue group health coverage during the period of leave, unless otherwise required by federal or state law.
