Common use of Extension of Maternity Leave Clause in Contracts

Extension of Maternity Leave. If the birth of the child takes place later than the expected date, the employee is entitled to an extension of her maternity leave equal to that of the delay, except if she has at least two (2) weeks of maternity leave remaining after the delivery. The employee may also be granted an extension of her maternity leave, if her state of health or that of her child so warrants. The duration of this extension shall be as indicated on the medical certificate provided by the employee. During such extensions, the employee shall be considered on leave without pay and shall receive no indemnities or compensation from the College. During such periods, the employee shall be covered by clause 7-4.52 for the first six (6) weeks and subsequently by clause 7-4.53.
