The 'Face to Face Teaching' clause defines the requirement for instructional sessions to be conducted in person, with both the instructor and students physically present in the same location. Face to Face Teaching. The maximum face to face teaching hours for any full-time teacher in: secondary school shall be no more than 0.8 of a full teaching load, and primary school shall be no more than 0.85 of a full teaching load. Duties other than Teaching Time (DOTT) In addition to face-to-face teaching hours, the following periods of time (exclusive of recess and lunchtime) are provided to teachers to perform other than face-to-face teaching duties within the normal school day or normal operating hours:

Level 3 School Administrators / Heads of Department are required to undertake up to 18 hours per week. iii. Deputy principals are required to undertake up to 10 hours per week.

(5) The limits contained in (1), (2), (3) and (4) may be exceeded for individual teachers subject to discussion with that teacher and a reduction in load to some other aspects of that teacher’s duties or; (6) If the limits contained in (1), (2), (3) and (4) are exceeded, the teaching staff will be compensated by way of either the following: a. Time off in lieu equivalent to the time worked in excess of the limits contained in (1), (2) and (3) or; b. Being paid for the excess hours at their ordinary rate of pay.
Face to Face Teaching. The clause sets out the following improvements: A middle and senior Classroom Teacher’s maximum face to face time is 21 hours and 20 minutes. For 2024 and 2025 a primary Classroom Teacher’s maximum face to face teaching time is 23 hours and 40 minutes. From term 1, 2026, a primary Classroom Teacher’s maximum face to face teaching time will be 22 hours and 40 minutes. From term 1, 2027, a primary Classroom Teacher’s maximum face to face teaching time will be 22 hours and 10 minutes.
