Family Emergency Illness. An employee shall be allowed to use up to a maximum of sixteen (16) hours per occurrence, for absences due to illness of a spouse, child or parent, to a maximum of five (5) occurrences per calendar year. For a one (1) day absence no medical certificate shall be required, for longer periods an employee shall be required to produce a certificate from a qualified medical Doctor certifying the illness. Such periods of absences shall be deducted from the sick bank but shall not be counted as absences under Article 19.03.

  • Family Illness The start of a family leave for a serious health condition of a family member shall begin on the date requested by the employee or designated by Management.
