Family Illness Leave definition

Family Illness Leave means an absence from work necessitated by care for any member of the teacher's immediate family, as defined in section A of this Article, or any other ill relative living in the household of the teacher. Absence for family illness is limited to no more than twenty-five (25) days in any one school year. A physician’s statement indicating the necessity of the leave after five (5) consecutive contract days must be submitted to the Chief Human Resource Officer.
Family Illness Leave. Sick leave may be used for serious illness in the immediate family. Immediate family will be defined as spouse, children, step- children, significant other where there is an on-going relationship and shared household, grandchildren, parents or parents-in-law, siblings, spouse's siblings, and grandparents. For serious illness in other than the immediate family, up to three (3) days of leave allowance may be used per occurrence upon approval of the Director of Administrative Services.
Family Illness Leave is leave to care for the employee's child, parent, or spouse with a serious health condition.
