Funeral/Bereavement Leave. In the case of a recent death (within last 12 months) in the employee's immediate family, the employee shall be allowed time off work without loss of pay not to exceed a total of three (3) days (not required to be consecutive), for the purpose of attending the funeral or memorial service, making necessary arrangements, family support or other similar reasons. Additional accrued leave can be taken in conjunction with funeral/bereavement leave. For the purposes of Funeral/Bereavement leave, immediate family shall be defined as spouse, domestic partner, son (biological, step or adopted), daughter (biological, step or adopted), mother, father, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in- law, son-in-law. Such Funeral/Bereavement Leave shall be charged as Funeral/Bereavement Leave and shall not be charged against any of the Employee's leave accounts.
