Funeral/Bereavement Leave. In the event of death of a brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in- law, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, or any relative living in the household of the employee, the Employer will grant up to three (3) paid days compassionate Leave of Absence. This leave will be granted to attend the funeral and such time off must be taken at the time of bereavement. In the event of death of spouse, father, mother, or child, the employee shall be entitled to one (1) week’s leave of absence with pay at the time of bereavement. It is understood that in the case of a part-time employee, the compensation shall be at the average hours worked during the preceding four (4) weeks. An employee’s day off will not be used to circumvent funeral leave provisions. This leave may be extended, with the agreement of the Employer, by using vacation time.
